Several years ago the Bureau of Reclamation was charged with the task of managing the water outflow from the dam/powerhouse to lower salmon spawning and fishkill problems downriver. So they built this huge system of gates that allows them to capture water at different temperatures depending on the time of year to help the salmon. And they basically bolted it to the backside of the dam. Pretty cool!
